Amazon prime Visa question?

I haven't been able to get pre-qualified for any cards except the junk annual fee cards. I have a decent credit score and for what I thought I had a good history. I pay it off every month before it cycles which I'm guessing is a no-go. I just got pre-approved for the Amazon prime Visa card. How accurate is that pre-qualification? I don't want to get a hit on my credit report for applying and not getting approved. Below are my statistics from the last soft pull.

Your credit score: 736 on Experian and 771 on myfico(Equifax)

Key factors that adversely affected your credit score:

- Length of time accounts have been established (I have 1 year 11months on my bank personal loan and 3 months on my discover it secured card).

-Lack of recent installment loan information

- No recent bank/national revolving balances

-Length of time revolving accounts have been established.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Chase preapprovals are in general reliable, and that one in particular. No guarantees of course, but you're likely to get approved.

I think you will get approved. It's fairly easy to get. I was approved for it a week ago, and my FICO is 686, and I defaulted on chase about 8 years ago for $7,000 and they still approved me for it.

Want to laugh at something? I did the card match too with the points guy and the only cards I was matched with was Chase Bank. 8 different cards lol. So maybe the Amazon pre qualification was right??

I have 12 inquiries over the last 2 years. I tried to get a car loan and the dealer ran my credit multiple times without telling me. Would this be a deal breaker?

The 12 inquiries shouldn't be an issue. 1, car loan apps that happen at/around the same time are scored as a single inquiry. 2, Chase's 5/24 is in reference to new accounts, not inquiries.

That's good to hear that about the HP. What's your take on applying for the Amazon visa card through Chase? (what I wrote above)

Their preapprovals are usually pretty solid, but there are no absolutes. You should be fine, but no guarantees.

Re: Amazon prime Visa question?

JayTea7,

I got a preapproval last year with a lot more new accounts than 5/24. I was approved for $15,800. I've seen approvals for $500 to $24000 with various credit profiles. I would try if I were in your shoes. Even if you get approved for $500, you got an approval and that card will grow over time.

Keep us posted.
