Amazon store card

So I applied for the store card last week and got a letter today from their fraud department asking me to call and verify some information so they can continue processing my application. I called and was asked to verify my name, address, dob, and last 4 of my ss#. The rep then said I should receive something in the mail in the next few days. Has this happen to anybody else before? Does this mean I got approved? Totally confused......

Re: Amazon store card

Nope. When I asked the rep did I get approve he said he didn't know and to be looking for something in the mail. *shrugs* lol

I would take it that saying "I don't know" would translate to "no". He would surely know the answer but just didn't want to give the no.

That's kind of strange could you be blacklisted by GE?

Don't think so I have pp smart connect. I do believe they are backed by GE right?

Re: Amazon store card

Yes GE also has that. Interesting. Not sure what's up with that.

I know it's weird. Never got a letter like that before after applying for credit. I will keep you guys posted when I hear something back.

Re: Amazon store card

Lots o banks will have internal policies about telling you the status of your app over the phone, but i'm guessing since they wanted to verify info you've GOT it.

Re: Amazon store card

Seems to me I've read a lot of threads here about this kind of thing.  The "don't know" on the phone might mean "yes", or "maybe", but why would they bother asking you to call if they already decided "no"?  Good luck.
