Seems to me I've read a lot of threads here about this kind of thing.  The "don't know" on the phone might mean "yes", or "maybe", but why would they bother asking you to call if they already decided "no"?  Good luck.

I've had banks (come to think of it - it was GE/Carecredit) verify info over the phone - had to give them my name, address, last 4, dob, etc. Then they pulled a HP on a different CRA and denied me. Don't remember what the reason for denial was that time. So them verifying info is absolutely no guarantee of approval.

Then again, they could approve you, you never know. But I have to admit that I hate the whole 'wait on the mail' speech too.

Re: Amazon store card--update

So I get an email from amazon this morning stating that I was denied because they couldn't verify my identity! I'm was so confused because all the information I gave them is the same info off my report and what I used to get my other cards. I then googled this issue and read that others have been having this same issue and amazon can't explain why or how and is just recommending reapply in 30 days. Im like screw it..if its this many issues just to get the card I don't want it....

Re: Amazon store card--update

I don't blame you for feeling that way I'm sorry to hear that.

Reapplying in 30 days is NOT a good idea because that will be another HP.

Re: Amazon store card--update

If Amazon was run, like Amazon/GE Money Bank Card....I would have quit buying from Amazon several years ago. I've had 2 Amazon/GEMB cards, and BOTH were closed because they claimed I had a poor credit score. In fact the last time they closed it they claimed I has a 620 for a score, infact I had a 729 reported by Citi.

I don't need a card like that!

Re: Amazon store card

This didn't happen to me for my Amazon card, but it did when I applied for a PayPal Card, which is also backed by GEMB. They couldn't tell me my app status either, 5 days later I got a brand new card with a $1,500 CL
