Just provide the requested documents and let the chips fall where they may. If they take AA, then good riddens to them! ...like you said, you have other cards with higher limits that are just as prestigious.

If after you provide the documents, you'll never have to worry about your card not going through at a restaurant or at a check-out, and if they close it, you're 'none the worse for wear.' Smiley Wink

Good Luck!

OP has made clear that they do not want to do this and that the card isn't worth it tfor them to go through the FR.

I think it's possible to be subjected to a FR more than once.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, someone posted about having 2 in the same year (possibly involving the same tax transcripts) and being told that they can do it as often as needed.

And cards can be declined for many reasons, such as fraud alerts, which have nothing to do with FRs, so the statement in red is certainly optimisitc...

It's entirelly a personal choice.  If the card isn't that important to you or you feel sharing your personal financial data is too invasive, then cancel it.  You could, at least, call and to learn exactly what they are requiring.

Sorry you had this experience so early in your Amex life.

This.    As suggested, call to make sure it isn't just an identity check (unlikely since it says financial documents) and decide if you want to provide what they want, probably a 4506-T.

Just be aware that if you decline, if you ever want an Amex card again, you will almost certainly have to provide the information then.

I wanted to provide an alternate data point here on that statement, although mine pertains to Citi.  I appd in December 2014 for the Hilton card, was hit with a 4506 request and I just passed and said no thannks.  Well, this week I appd the Prestige and was approved a little after 24 hours waiting.  Same stateted income as my last app and no request for income verification of any kind.

OP - very sorry you are getting hit like this.

Right, my statement was about what people have reported about Amex.   Which, BTW, is also a loophole for people who have misreported their income.   After two years, you can apply again, stating the income that will appear on your transscripts  (iyou could apply sooner, but they almost certainly have a record of what you claimed on your earlier app)

After my success with Cap1 I just now called Amex back and told them I will not be providing them with any information and I am not interested in there card. The guy told me that the account could be closed otherwise. I said yay yay I just got a 60k card Cap1 you can keep yours. He seemed surprised somebody was turning down there card  lol Smiley LOL

I have no clue what may have triggered it then ...

As Focus and LTL said the choice is yours weather you comply or not but I'm truly sorry you had this kind of experience on your 1st Amex product

they want to get a copy of the taxes for themselves. they would not say for sure what flagged it. i told them i would think on it but dont really need the card and i would more than likely cancel it.

While I understand why somebody wouldn't want to share it even if you're being truthful about your income I would just do it anyways . I got nothing to hide . I actually got F/R back in December and got through it without a scratch and even got my 3x CLI on my everyday to $12,000

Actually, I don't need 60k line.  More juicy cards out there.  Didn't even want 10k line (debating what to do with that one).  Am in boat rather have a line with Amex, than 60k capital one (and I have cap one).
