Re: American Express Pulling Pattern?

I really think you are in good shape to apply now ~ since your reports are clean of baddies and you've been with AMEX for a year.

I would go ahead and apply ~ if they decline you then you'll at least know what to work on. I have a ZYNC and have applied for revolvers when i've been declined, it always was a soft pull.

FR stands for Financial Review. It's a really overblown and somewhat rare thing that AMEX does. Nobody knows what exactly triggers an FR, but they basically put a hold on all of your cards and require you to submit various tax records and forms, bank statements, etc. It's a highly intrusive (in my opinion) process that I guess they do to verify that you have the ability to repay all of your obligations and yadda yadda.

You either choose to comply with the FR or your account is terminated.

It sucks, but as I said, it's pretty rare. People still freak out over it though, like myself Smiley Very Happy

HAHAHA! Omg I've gone through that!! Is that what happened to be? I always thought it was something we all went through so I never really bothered.

I'll never forget it, I went to charge my AmEx and it got declined (SO awkward), I then checked my online account and it said 'Suspended', and I was surprised. I was then contacted by some lady who was handling my account, it was ridicuous! She asked for tax forms from my previous year, 6 months worth of paystubs and 3 months worth of Bank statements. It was insane, I had to fax 52 pages to her, I kid you not.

I'm still not sure why it seems so difficult to edit a long quote (like several I edited in this thread) so that it doesn't take up much of the page.

Everyone trying to figure out who is quoting who would much appreciate it I assure you.

From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782

Thank you for bringing that up, I'll be sure to delete previous quotes so it doesn't take up too much room. Smiley Wink

Re: American Express Pulling Pattern?

They were probably being nice by pulling all 3.  Being nice by giving you two unnecessary inquiries, you ask?  Yes.  They probably pulled EX like they have for all of us here and didn't like what they saw.  Instead of denying you, they went ahead and took a look at TU and EQ and voila, approval.

They'll probably only pull EX now that you're a member.
