Is it okay to pay american express payments before charges post? Do they have anything against people who do this sort of thing? I cant do this with others like discover or capital one.

They won't let you pay before it post.
I personally didn't know you could do this. Oh well I probably want be doing this anyway.
Interesting. They let me send them a payment before anything posted.
Edit: Infact sending a payment before the charges posted also increased my limit back up to 3000$ immediately.

ok my bad...... Like you said i know Discover wont and i though amex was the same way.
You can't make payments without a posted balance.
You can make payments on a balance.
You can overpay on the balance to reflect pending charges.
You can overpay as much as you want so long as any balance is posted. (for future purchases)

So are you saying you had a zero balance and you made a payment before the transaction posted to your account? Is this correct?
Yes just with pending charges. Might be because its my first time using the card.
It's certainly possible to pay before you have a balance posted, but you would most likely need to "push" the payment from your bank, rather than try to schedule the payment on your Amex onlline account.
It is certainly possible to pay the balance when it is pending or before being posted from AMEX website. I did it on 2 of my AMEX cards and one of them actually i over paid 1 dollar and when the payment and charges posted it showed -1 dollar balance.
