Just got a letter saying that American Express won't be given any additional cashback on 3rd party payment apps like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Did anyone else get this? Pretty lame if you ask me. Now they're forcing me to carry around 1 extra card for no reason.
I had not got the letter/email, sounds pretty ridiculous to me
I'm confused. Is this something to do with an Apple/Google rewards program? Or the gas/grocery bonus categories on BCE?

Maybe they're talking about apps like rakuten that give you bonus MRs for going through them.
It simply means that some transactions may not earn bonus category rewards or Amex Offers if they are not processed directly by the merchant.
Examples would include ordering through UberEats may not trigger the restaurant category like making a purchase directly with the restaurant, using your card to top off your iTunes account and then having YouTube Premium bill to your Apple wallet won't trigger the streaming credit, etc.
Yeah oops.
I'll delete my post. Glad I'm wrong
