Just last week you were able to apply for the Ameriprise Platinum without an Ameriprise account. It looks like they have changed the wording on the Ameriprise site. I just went onto the site because I cancelled my PRG so I was thinking about apply for the card.
It says it right on the main page a special offer for Ameriprise Clients. Even further down it says this
Your ability to have this Card product is contingent on a relationship between you and Ameriprise Financial, Inc. If no relationship exists, or if your relationship with Ameriprise Financial ends, American Express has the right to cancel your Card account or transfer your account to another American Express Card product that will have different features and benefits.
This change really puts a damper on my plan to get this card. I hope that it doesn't affect those on here that recently got the card.
The wording has always been there.
The wording has always been there? How stupid of me I never noticed it before. Thanks I feel better now

No worries. It's always better to ask
Crazy timing... just app'd for the same card, and for the first time got the dreaded pending decision page *palmface*
First thought that came to mind is that they're going to verify if I have an Ameriprise account, which I don't...
Nervous now... thought I was a shoe-in... I'd hate to get a decline and have a dead weight inquiry on Experian
Well, I'll just have to keep my finger crossed in the meantime. Not liking this one bit.

Yes, have a BCP (in sig, 15.2% of income) that was opened last Oct (my first Amex)... Checked online, same message... called and told the same and to wait, no add info required. I'd rather they asked for something, lolz. "Just wait" doesn't sit well... my imagination's too vivid to let stew
Will keep y'guys posted

I got declined... Reason wasn't because I wasn't an Ameriprise member either. I'm gonna recon a couple of times and see how it goes.
Sorry to hear about your denial. Were there errors on your credit report?
