Amex 3 digit code requested

Checking out at walmart and used samsung/android pay because i didn't have DH charge card. Well i used the PRG via samsung pay or Android and the terminal asked for thr 3 digit code not the 4 digit. Anyone know why? I thought the 3 digit was for amex purposes only not for merchants.

Not necessarily.  It depends on the merchant and payment method.

Maybe it's their terminal. Every time I've used my PRG on SamsungPay, the cashier prompted me for the last four digits of the digital card.
