I would imagine that in addition to the SP, Amex also likely looks at your first 2 billing cycles at things like usage on the card, reported balance amount (% relative to limit) etc. I assume that the account activity over the course of the first 61 days can matter almost as much as the SP that they are using for the requested CLI.

That's definitely an interesting thought. I got my 3xCLI last week at the 61 day mark (1k to 3k) and I did make sure to keep my balance low entering the statement closing date. I spent around $1,500 on the card in those 61 days too. I also think that AmEx doesn't like to see a lot of activity since you got the card...I've read some people were denied even with good scores, so I made sure to not do anything in those 60 days.
