Amex 3c CLI at 61 days question

So i am almost at 30 days for my BCE. I know Amex does a soft pull for the 3x CLI at 60/61 days. My question is do they do a soft pull when you request it? Or if they soft pull periodically and go off of that soft pull, if so how can I check my last soft pull from Amex and what credit bureau do they soft pull from?

They use your last soft pull...they don't pull a new one when you request it. If you get a copy of your actual credit report, you can see the soft pulls on there.

Agree, I think it's your last SP. Most lenders won't do it just by you asking for it, for whatever reason.

Wonder what the real difference between a lender soft pull and hard pull is. I kinda imagine it's like them pull a credit karma type report with no score

Re: Amex 3c CLI at 61 days question

I would imagine that in addition to the SP, Amex also likely looks at your first 2 billing cycles at things like usage on the card, reported balance amount (% relative to limit) etc.  I assume that the account activity over the course of the first 61 days can matter almost as much as the SP that they are using for the requested CLI.

That's definitely an interesting thought. I got my 3xCLI last week at the 61 day mark (1k to 3k) and I did make sure to keep my balance low entering the statement closing date. I spent around $1,500 on the card in those 61 days too. I also think that AmEx doesn't like to see a lot of activity since you got the card...I've read some people were denied even with good scores, so I made sure to not do anything in those 60 days.
