My boyfriend just activated his Amex Everyday card the other day, and he wants to try the 3x CLI.
Question... does he have to only ask for 3x, or is it ok to request more? Will requesting more than 3x screw things up?
He currently has a $2000 limit, but was approved for a 10k line with Cap1. He'd like to request 10k from Amex too. (Cap1 isn't showing up on his credit report yet. Not sure if that will make a difference or increase the odds of approval?)
Thanks!

I think he can ask for whatever amount he wants but they will only approve for 3X (at the best).
Thanks, guys!
I went ahead and requested 10k for him, but they countered with 6k - which is exactly what the 3x CLI would have been. Perfect!
Well, not perfect since it isn't 10k, but we'll take it. ![]()
The next time that means we can request 18k instead of just getting 6k - glad we didn't wait!
Congrats on the CLI!! Curious -- was he a previous AMEX holder, or is this his first account? I ask because I have had my BCP for 30 days now and would love to try the 3X CLI. I know folks have had success before the 61st day, but I've noticed they've typically been existing AMEX holders.

There's quite a few members on the forum that say their 2nd time around isn't as sucessful as the first time.
I think he'd be fine if it wasn't a massive increase - but the possibility of getting two increases instead of one in the same timeframe is nice. (as in, if we would have waited 61 days instead of almost immediately after activation.)
He does have great credit though, so there's a chance. ![]()
