My next card application is likely to be Amex BCP or BCE. I filed CH 7 (Amex not IIB) 10/31/17 and was discharged 2/28/18, so I'm past 5yr1mo from filing, but not from discharge. My understanding from what I've read here is that puts me in a grey area. Just for kicks about 20 minute ago I decided to check the preapproval offers and I'm getting BCE, BCP and Gold as options all with the std SUBs. Am I likely past the blacklist now and ok to go ahead with the full app using the newish soft pull approval process (and taking the HPs if approved) or should I wait a little longer? My newest account was opened mid sept and on inquries i'm 1/6, 2/12, 3/24 on EX and 1/6, 2/12, 2/24 on EQ and TU. Next month a triple pull from Cap One reaches a year old if it makes a difference. I'm aware I'll get the $1000 CL if approved.

Technically, you're not on the BL since you mentioned AENB was not IIB. So, you can definitely apply anytime you've cleared the 61+ months timeframe from the original BK file date based on reported DPs.
It's totally up to you if you want to pull the trigger now or wait a bit longer depending upon how your current credit profile stacks up.
Everything related to a BK goes by the file date. The DC is just the judges order that the case is closed. You dont see DC dates on credit reports. Grab one!
I'd say based on their pre approval, you're good to go. It may, or may not be a 1k approval... I just about fell out of my chair when I got my BCP. Waiting and letting your scores come up may increase your odds of landing a higher SL but either way you should be good. I guess it all comes down to how itchy your trigger finger is
Zoostation1,
As someone that had a bankruptcy without including Amex, that is a solid approval. Whenever they list the CL and APR, you're approved. BTW my first Amex post bankruptcy was $2800, but it will grow. Also, I've been lucky to never have a HP for any of my Amex cards since.
Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Whatever you end up with as the SL will stay until the BK falls off. No CLI's. Im stuck with $1000 for a couple more yrs.
Was a bit trigger happy and went for BCP given the 1st year AF waiver and it would be more straightforward for me to hit the sub (I don't use paypal often and would need to a lot more for the bulk of the BCE sub). I ended up with the 14 day message (doesn't seem promising) and am in limbo for now.
EDIT: Got an approval email just after posting this! Don't know the limit yet cause after accepting was navigating to set up my online account and received a "we're experiencing technical difficulties" message when I tried to set up my online account. I'll start a new thread in approvals so mods can close this one.
Congrats!

Congrats on the approval.
If you're curious about the SL, you can reach out to the New Accounts department and they can usually provide the information. Otherwise, you can wait until you get a follow-up AENB email with the limit (if another communication is sent) or if the system lets you create your online account (from the email link) in the next couple of days.
Hi everyone,

Thank you for understanding.
