Re: Amex 61 day cli... Denial maybe.

I was approved for a 3x CLI over 6 months ago with no issue. It was an immediate approval. Tried for another 3x the other day and got the 7-10 day message. Just got a letter from them telling me the key factor was that I haven't been a customer long enough. Seems to be an odd reason since I've had the card since January but there's nothing I can do but try again in a few months.

Good luck with your request. Hopefully yours will have a different outcome.

Thanks Ares19, it's all a learning experience. Will be interesting to see what the reasons for denial. But so far not all that pleased with Amex, right up there with Chase so far IMO. Looks like Citi will get most of my business, at least there flexible.

Citi hates me, so YMMV

I used to think citi hated me too. Not really. They just hate aggressive credit seeking. Once I stopped apping for everything moving and waited six months. They opened up the doors. Just got pre approval last week too. Denied. Too many recent inquiries. They even offered 12.99% Arg. So the key to citi and Amex is time without apping.

To me, that's the key with any lender, really.

Most lenders hate aggressive credit seeking because it often indicates financial trouble and therefore risk. Now, of course, many here are just chasing rewards or bonuses and not in any financial trouble, but credit seeking still needs to be balanced with long gardening periods for best success.  Like you said, 6 months at the least.

I don't think i am that lucky to be the 1%, got 7~10 msg when I asked my SPG from 8K to 20K, approved 4 days later without calling.
There is still chance to get approved, if not, try again in 90 days, no big deal.

Re: Amex 61 day cli... Denial maybe.

Im just starting getting new credit since May and I think getting 4 new cards since then are making them skidish. Only had a 4.5 aaoa before getting new cards .
I believe by letting these new cards age and treating them well, everyone will get better.Except Chase, have had there amazon visa for 3 yrs and its never increaded,so I dont see the new Freedom I have improving either.
