I have read in another post breifly about Amex application process for existing cardmembers. Is it true that if I apply and am denied it will only be a soft pull? My credit is good but I have many inquiries becuase of an auto loan seach in March, auto loan signing in April and trying to refinance to a lower rate July.

I thibk its only a SP if you already have a card with AMEX
I currently have a Blue Cash card but just want to confirm. Not too sure ill be approved with the inquiries but if its only a soft pull I have nothing to lose.
Its not wrote in stone. Plenty of people have had Amex cards and got HP and were denied. YMMV
I applied for an Everyday card three months ago and was denied with a soft pull. At the time I had the Gold charge card. I was approved last week for the Everyday card at $8500 and I was alerted of the hard hit because of the approval.

I have & applied for both my two AMEX cards within a months period, if not less... Mine were both apparently HP's... I had no advanced knowledge that it would be any different until further readings & researching such as here on myFICO Forums that others were more fortunate with this...
Reading your post a few more times, I don't think CC issuers switch a denial from a HP into a SP... If you are inqiring if a denial is DUE to a SP, that I am very unaware of... Sorry...

SP if denied
HP if approved
+1 from everything I've read.

If a current Amex member is denied credit it is usually a SP. Key word is "usually".
Sometimes it is a HP.
