I received an email from American Express last week regarding my Blue Cash Everyday card, with the following subject line:
Good news: Your Purchase APR has been reduced to 13.99%
The APR for this card was previously 18.74%. When the account was opened in 2013, the APR was 17.99%.
I rarely ask for APR reductions since I'm a PIF guy, and I had no intentions of asking for one on this account. However, I was pleasantly surprised to receive this email from Amex. I haven't heard much at all about auto APR reductions, so I figured I would post this in case someone might find this of interest. I should also mention that I've never carried a balance on this account.
You're right, we don't hear about auto-APR reductions much. Cool beans! Congrats to you!
Yep, color me surpised here on that auto-APR reduction. There are people who repeatedly call in and never get one. So congrats there!
I'm guessing you took pretty good care of your account. Did you use it heavily? PIF every time?
This would be a nice surprise if I still have mine in 4 years.

This card has received very light usage in the past couple of years. That was mainly due to the rewards being outclassed by many of my other cards such as the Sallie Mae MC. Now that the Sallie Mae/Commence card is closed, the Amex BCE is seeing a bit more usage now. I've never carried a balance on this card.
Thank you sharing and congrats! Good information.
Thanks everyone!
Nice! Thanks for sharing. Definitely good to know.
