Amex Backdating Question

I am an authorize user on my dads business AMEX card opened in 2011. Its a family business so myself, brother and mother are all authorize users for that accout. We were asked for our socials to get the cards. I just noticed when my mom just got approved for the BCE a couple of months ago at first the card stated "member since 2013" but when she goes online it says "cardmember since 2011" She checked her CR and indeed it did get backdated to 2011. So im assuming the same will eventually happen to me right? didnt know you could get backdated from being an authorize user on a business AMEX card. Anyone had something similiar happen? If is true i will be stoked cuz thats the year i actually started rebuilding my credit!

Re: Amex Backdating Question

It depends on when you were added as an AU. The year you were added on as an AU it gets backdated for and the month you apply for the new AMeX card is the month shown as opened since on the CR.

Also your Mom can request a new card with the correct cardmember since date.

I was added in 2011 on the business AMEX rovolver card and just got approved over the weekend for my first AMEX personal charge card. So my charge card will get backdated to 2011 right? Im assuming since mom got her BCE in Feb 2013 and that card was backdated to 2011 (same time i was added on the business card).

That's the reason why January is everyone's favorite month to app for new Amex cards--Jan 2011 for maximum AAOA effect.  Smiley Happy

Awesome!!! I actually dont remember if i was an authorize user or joint applicant back back in the 90's i had an AMEX Optima credit card with my dad. Just cant remember if back then i gave my SS# the only bad thing is i cant remember if the account was paid satisfactorily. Maybe i will get a nice surpise when it eventually backdates my card!
