Sharing my experience
I received my platinum card in the mail today. I jumped on chat and ask the representative to correct my MSD to 2006. He put in the request and it was successful. He also confirmed that they'll be sending me 2 new cards (Platinum, EveryDay) to reflect the update.
congrats

Were you backdating to closed accounts?

Yes I had a closed account that was charged off in 2008.
Interesting! I had a small 1.5k (young and dumb) charge off in 2007 and was told backdating was not possible on either of my cards when I called in.

Try the online chat feature when you log into your account. Avoid using the term "backdating", try articulating it as "correct my member since date". I didn't indicate that I had a previous account or discussed when/how/why it was closed. They asked for my basic contact info and the year I wanted it corrected to. It seems like they place a request with the date as the input and receive a yes/no response.

+1.
Does anyone know if this will work with BoA? I had a card with them since 2004 which I closed in 2010. My current card show MS 2014. I know when I activated through online banking their website showed I was still registered and I was able to use my old user id and password .

No. AFAIK, AMEX is the only lender that reports their TLs this way.
Congrats! It almost makes me want to try get back in with AMEX. Thanks for sharing.
