Hey Guys i need some kind of feedback on this..
I called chase about two weeks ago to see if i could transfer some of sapphire cl to my chase freedom which i use more frquently. the rep told me i could but not the entire cl i figured there was at least $500 cl left on sapphire after the consolidation. Today i checked CK and noticed my credit went down 45pts due to that acct being reported as closed which is not what i wanted to do. i will call chase tomorrow and see if they can reinstated as open.. Has anyone heard of chase reopening an acct after being closed? (its been less than 2 weeks since this happened)
Please let me know if anything Thanks

@Anonymous,
Was it the regular sapphire or the sapphire preferred? The starting limit for the sapphire preffered when approved is 5k. As such, the limit on the card cannot be lower than that. If it is the preffered and you left $500 on, then that is why it is closed. But I may be wrong.
It was the sapphire regular not the preffered. I opened this cc back in aug 2014 with a credit limit of 5k. And they told me they could put 4.5k to my freedom and left $500 on my sapphire but wasnt expecting this would close it.

Who cares what credit karma says. Its fico that matters.
Credit karma does not calculate closed account, hencr 45 point drop. You have 10 year history with fico.
+1. Please ignore CreditKarma.
To be safe, you should get an official copy of your credit report and see how it was really reported and what the real effect it had on your score. Regardless, see what Chase says. I haven't heard of anybody re-opening an account. It might even be more difficult for you because the Chase Sapphire isn't a mainstream card for Chase anymore. I don't know if they CAN (easily) re-open a discontinued product. Of course, CSP cardholders have been able to switch to the OG Sapphire, so who knows? Best of luck dude.

This. If you want the account open then certainly see if they'll reopen it but don't base your decision solely on CK's score.

You are wrong, 5K is just the minimum for opening. You can transfer some of that limit away. I have seen other post on here from other member's that have done exactly that.

there may have also been a breakdown in communication. from what you said in your post, the rep thought that you were trying to transfer the whole credit line from Sapphire to Freedom. when you agreed to transfer whatever amount was allowed, rep may have thought you wanted to close Sapphire. Did you specifically tell rep not to close account?
