Interesting! I had a small 1.5k (young and dumb) charge off in 2007 and was told backdating was not possible on either of my cards when I called in.

Try the online chat feature when you log into your account. Avoid using the term "backdating", try articulating it as "correct my member since date". I didn't indicate that I had a previous account or discussed when/how/why it was closed. They asked for my basic contact info and the year I wanted it corrected to. It seems like they place a request with the date as the input and receive a yes/no response.

+1.

+2.    I was able to get my new AMEX cards backdated to 1980 by using the chat and definitely say "correct my member since date"

I received my platinum card in the mail today. I jumped on chat and ask the representative to correct my MSD to 2006. He put in the request and it was successful. He also confirmed that they'll be sending me 2 new cards (Platinum, EveryDay) to reflect the update.

Simply amazing. Congratulation

Success, here as well!

Just finished a chat session in which he was able to update both my Green and JetBlue Amex to my original MSD of 2003.

Although, when I log in online it still shows 2013.  Does anyone know if this gets updated at some point?

Two new cards confirmed to be arriving shortly.

Now, the BIG question is will my CR reflect this change?

Mine shows 2013 as well as I successfully backdated my card this morning as well!

How does this reflect on the 3xCLI date? Should it stay the same? Should it change since I have another card on the way with the corrected MSD?
