Amex Backdating

Does Amex still backdate?

I have a Costco Amex card where it says I'm a member since 2011. I just stumbled in these forums on backdating threads and remembered I had an Amex via my employer at 2001. Does that count?

Figured it was worth a try - I have contacted Amex via chat and was told that my inquiry will be sent to their correct department.

Re: Amex Backdating

What people are stating is that NO they aren't backdating. According to sources directly from Amex, NO they aren't backdating any longer. I will soon be able to confirm as I added an EDP to my line up. Fingers crossed.

Short answer is that Amex no longer backdates. That particular feature is dead.

Re: Amex Backdating

Here's the thread so we don't start a new one here. I can confirm I cancelled a AMEX card I had since 2001 at the end of 2014. I got a new AMEX card the end of March however it's not reporting it from 2001.

Re: Amex Backdating

You guys answered my question and thanks for that.

I did try to research myself, and tried to understand a simple yes/no answer from a 70 pages thread was difficult. Smiley Very Happy

Some forums highlight the most helpful answer just under the original question, and that makes it easier to follow, myFico forums are sometimes painful to follow.

Well, I'm overwellemed by how much I learn here, and the amount of support I get. I spend hours reading and learning from others and try to share back.

And I'm grateful to each bit of knowelege, thanks to what I've learned here I've seen my score improve by 50+ points in a month and I hope I'm at a better place right now!

Re: Amex Backdating

Glad you got your answer OP Smiley Happy That thread really is a mess to sort through. Maybe the title should be changed to: AMEX NO LONGER BACKDATES, PERIOD! - CONFIRMED REPEATEDLY!
