Don't feel so bad. My CLI request was also not approved. I currently have an AmEx BCE at 15k, opened Feb 2012. You win some, you lose some. ![]()
@800scoreplease wrote:Just thought I'd share my story. I have a Eq Fico (from here) score of 773. NO Negative Info on my report, $1100 in balances across 2 cards $90 macys & $1000 Citi Thank you. No other revolving debt. 16+ year credit history good mix of loan, credit cards and autos and I really want 3 major cards but don't want to mess up my debt ratio so I called my favorite cards and I wanted to get higher limits on BOA Amex, Amex Blue and Navy Federal Visa. Then I planned to close the others since it won't affect utilization. BOA Amex went from $10,000 to $20,000 and Navy Federal from $5,000 to $20,000. AMEXBLUE DENIED MY CLI. They are jerks so Citi Thank You is my third choice the went from $9000 to $11000 NO credit check. I am closing the Amex Blue immediately.
Your BOA AMEX had a credit limit increase. That is why your Blue got denied. Only one credit limit per individual (not card) every 6 months. You still gonna close? ![]()
Seriously, you're getting that upset over a denied credit limit increase request? Just wait 90 days, I think it is, and try again. How long have you had the card? When was your last credit limit increase request with Amex?
When did you open your Blue and when, if any, was your last credit limit increase on it?
Starting Score: 648
Maybe they thought you had enough available credit already ?? I wouldn't close it since there is no AF. And given how some creditors ( BofA comes to mind ) are prone to slash CLs you might want to keep it.....
