Re: Amex Blue

Do what I do with my Chase Freedom, I just wave it at the POS and yell CREDIT into the machine.

Re: Amex Blue

This was a replacement to my card since I wore it out so bad. The one I'm replacing has the holographic stripe.

The Blue I just received has a grey strip as well.  Maybe only charge cards get the holographic ones?...

Never had a charge card with a holo.

Re: Amex Blue

I think maybe the holographs wear out more than the grey ones?  I'm not sure.  Perhaps that is why they changed it?  I had to get a new BCP within about 8 months because of the worn down strip and I don't even use it a lot, but the hologram strip had scratches all over it it.

Visa had quite an issue when it came to holos on their cards. They ended up stopping them completely. Wonder if Amex is doing the same. http://usa.visa.com/about_visa/ask_visa/index.html

Re: Amex Blue

I think apps will eventually change the way cards work. Theres a few apps in the works that load your cards info securely and you just hold your phone over the NFC reader, select your card you want to pay with, and hit accept. We no longer even need to carry credit cards. A bit safer to because the app will be locked and the app is only active when you intentionally use it, not when someone bumps into your pocket with a scanner.

Re: Amex Blue

I think Amex itself is confused whether they want to continue issuing the holographic stripe or not. I requested a replacement for my BCE (same issue as you guys it wears out fast) and it came with a normal grey stripe. I then got a Blue Sky and it has the holo stripe. One good thing (to me) is they stopped issuing the RFID chips on all the Blues, you have to ask for it now.
