Re: Amex CLI policy change or is it just me?

Still up in the air about sending.  My husband also has to sign  because we file jointly and he is not keen on the idea.  The letter said after 30 days my CL request would no longer be considered. It seems like too much trouble for a $2K increase.  It is frustrating because the whole point of getting the card was for the perks when traveling with my four young children.  With a line of only $1K, I can't buy tickets for the five of us when we travel.  And to boot there is $95 fee yearly.   This card is actually steering me to fly United so I can us the perks on that card for which I have an ample limit.  I am sure that is not what Delta intended.

Based on the responses here, most not all get the 4506T request. Does your wife have the same total CL's?

I'm around 50k and she is around it as well.  I forget her total as she has two cards, but it has to be around 50k as well.

I would suggest you move some of the credit line from the Blue (if more than a year old) to the Delta to offset the low limit.

Tripletmom,

I think the issue is around your total credit exposure to AMEX vs that 2k increase on that one card:

Personally, I would recommend one of the following two tactics (depending on whether or not you are ok with providing tax transcript):

1) No Tax Documents: Cancel your existing CLI request.  Move limit over from other AMEX revolver to get the Delta to where you want it.  For example, move 9k to Delta to get it to 10k

2) Tax Documents: Cancel your existing CLI request.  Now either move limit over to Delta and then request CLI of 3X with new limit.  Or just request the CLI with your other AMEX revolver and then move what you want to Delta.  For example, make the other AMEX revolver CLI request to 60k.  Or move 9k to Delta, and request 30k CLI on Delta.  You'll need to verify that moving CL does not make you inelible for CLI however.  If it does, do the CLI on other AMEX revolver and then move the credit line over to Delta.

Actually, just checked.  I am around 40k and she is around 50k (31k and 17k).  We file separately and I make a a bit more than her.

Re: Amex CLI policy change or is it just me?

I went from $20K to $30K on my BCE with no documentation needed. I could send them paystubs with no problems but never a tax form. Thats private info.

Maybe it has to do with my total exposure or the amount of my CLI of 45k.  I just found it interesting that the CLI department total me 24900 was the highest she could do without documents (so maybe 24900 is the max for automated system of approval).

CS800, as for documents.  They won't accept pay stubs etc.  They will send you a form giving them permission to get your tax transcripts.  Either you sign or you don't.  If they are asking for tax transcript for AA then you only choice is to sign or cancel cards.  If it is for CLI, then sign or cancel CLI request.

I feel the same way as you CS800, but those are the choices.  To be fair, Amex probably feels that credit cards are like a loan and gives them the right to ask for verification of income (think about the mortgage no documention issue).  However, I feel that hardly anyone else does it and I hate the idea of my tax returns floating around AMEXs computers so if they ask me for AA, I would have to think real carefully how special they are.

Re: Amex CLI policy change or is it just me?

Last month I asked for an increase on my BCE. My BCE is currently $9K, and my HH is at $25K. For even a small increase on the BCE Amex wanted the 4506-T. I didn't comply with the request. This week I applied for the SPG and was approved without a 4506-T. Amex did move $10K from my HH, but gave me $19K on the SPG. Thus, increasing their overall exposure by $9K.

Strange that they would give me more credit with a new card, but not increase my existing cards without the tax information.

Re: Amex CLI policy change or is it just me?

not that we need the credit or plan on racking it up. but some banks require much more for a line of credit(home equity), and they get the property as collateral. this is a credit card that, can just be charged off.

asking for anything north of 30k is a risk too anyone. say you just bought a brand new farrari, and your buddy asked you too borrow it for the week, youve let him use your honda in the past but is it really the same thing?

as far as transcripts as stated, its up too you, its only a signature. amex too my knowledge does nothing with the info but review it, too make sure that all the ducks are in a row.

Looking at your siggy, your total CL's seem to exceed $40k; no?
