I typically request my Amex CLIs through their website, by clicking the link and they have always been soft. When I try to do so now, the website says they are "upgrading their system and simply call 1800-....". I got an email from customer service saying to simply call the number on the back of my card and use the automated voice system for the request.
Will the request prompt a hard inquiry via their phone system and what information do they request? My current limit is $6,400, previously was $8,200 before a decrease a year ago. My CLs with other large cards are much higher (Chase $12,500, alliant $15,000, etc.). I was thinking of asking for $10,000 to be reasonable.
CLI are soft. you can ask for up to 3x current cl
I don't even want to know the outcome, LOL. I've had a AMEX revolver for 3 years in January and have never been approved for a CLI except for last month only for it to be taken away...I'm going to close my eyes on this one.
Called the number on back of card and was asked to provide amount requested, and household income. Current limit was $6,400, asked for $12,500 and was immediately approved. No hard pull, funds available in 15 minutes.
Woo hoo!

Nice, great increase! How many inquiries were on your report?
2 or 3, haven't checked my report in the past couple months. Utilization was at 20% overall, 1% on amex. last EX score I had was 725 about 4 months ago.
Which AMEX card is this?
