Hello,

Can someone tell me what are the requirements (scores, utilization, etc) needed to get an Amex Green Card or the Amex Gold Card?

My utilization is high, but I have a clean report..... Just curious.

American Express Bank uses Experian and does their own evalutaion, so they do not use FICO score. Income level is also important to them.

Hey BobbyJ have you thought about the Zync card from Amex? Or did you just have your eyes set on the Green or Gold card? The AF for the Zync is pretty low (if that matters at all to you), even if you add some of the packs available. Might be something you wanna take a look at, I got mine earlier this month, they pulled EX which I have no baddies, my util was around 14% on 7 other CC's...

Hey Gibran,

I thought about the Zync but I thought it was for younger people. I am over 40.

My utilization is currently about 70% across 10 cards. Maybe I should wait until it is lower to apply?

What does everyone else think?

I think Zync is a great product with the possibility for more rewards than green and gold and cheaper. Util might be a problem but do you know your fico?

If you get that util down to 15-20%, that should give you a big enough boost to get the card, considering you have no baddies.

Hey Bobby I'm 41... I had tried 3 previous times to get an Amex (twice a delta skymiles, and once a starwoods)..Then I started reading on the threads where their charge card was easier to come by, so this month was my 4th (and what was going to be my final attempt for 2010) APPROVED for the Zync..So I was happy to get my foot in the door with Amex..I still want to get the delta or starwoods card down the line..Another little tidbit, when they pull my EX report I had 9 inq's..

I chose the GO and Restaurant packs for the Zync, since I dine out quite a bit and also fly frequently, I don't have a problem with the $45 AF (GO pack $20, restaurant pack $25)

I do believe once you get your utilization down so your scores go up, you would have a good shot at getting the card...IMO
