Amex Cash Every day Question

My credit is in the 690 range with Experian and 712-720 with other two bureaus so Amex approved me for this card in Feb 2018 with a starting limit of just $500.00 and told me if I pay on time every month and leave a small monthly balance that when my 5th stmt cuts they would increase my limit so I did just that and in the 5th month they increased it to $1,000 cl. I also applied in Oct for the new Gold charge card and was approved. Been using both and paying on time and much more than the minimun balance on both cards each month and keeping balances really low. So this morning I figured I had the Amex Cash Everyday card a year now so let me apply for a CL increase and got the 7-10 day letter message Smiley Sad But then I go to their website to get pre approved and I'm pre approved for every card I almost applied for so I'm confused. They'll give me another card but not a CLI???

Re: Amex Cash Every day Question

Amex is pretty weird. I was in your exact position for a year and a half with them before i got my second CLI (i actually just got it last week), your scores and everything. I was putting heavy spend through it, paying biweekly, and in full and there was no misuse of this card or any of my other creditors! All while pre approving other cards and offering upgrades etc. I do, however, have two other accounts with them so im not sure if that played into it or not. They did give a good CLI so try to stay responsible with them and you should see it grow Smiley Happy

Re: Amex Cash Every day Question

Thanks for the advice. Yeah I did everything I knew to do. Utilization is under 20% and like you I pay them every time I get paid which is twice a month. Good payment history with them. They're just stingy lol. I also upgraded the card to the preferred cash everyday this morning because they offered it.

Their recommendation of reporting a balance works just as well if you can pay the full statement balance each cycle before the next one cuts. No need to carry a balance over month to month and pay interest. As long as a balance posts, it is fine. From reading here, and my experience with Amex, they seem to prefer it that way.
