Amex Cobranded Dilema Costco and Jetblue

Hello everyone, long time observer of this great forum, have definitely learned alot thanks to all of you! With that said I need some help, I have 2 American express cards, both cobranded,Costco and Jetblue as you all know both relationships are coming to an end and both within the next couple of months, costco has a 25k CL, having it's most recent increase in late September of 2015, jumping from 11.7k to 25k, my other Amex is my Jetblue with 9.8K CL, other than that I have no other amex cards directly with Amex.

I most definitely want to keep my CL's and my relationship with Amex but at this point in time given my understanding on the limitations to move CL's not sure what to do... I'm really hoping someone can give me some guidance.

My current scores are 770 all across the board,

I'm also pretty new here(3rd post, but lurking for quite some time before that), but let me take a stab at this.

The new banks taking over these accounts should let you keep those limits.

I applied for an AMEX BCE about six months ago and got a 10k limit.  My score is about 50 points lower than you.  I also recently applied for a HHonours card (trying to lock in my Hilton points before they expire), and had no problem getting a 2nd AMEX card.

I'd say if you really want an AMEX card, just apply for another one, and allow your other accounts to migrate to the new banks.

That's what I would do, but I am sure there are other thoughts that should soon follow.

Don't ovelrook existing discussions as a resource.  You're certainly not the only one wondering these sorts of things.  We're still waiting on details as well.  We don't know for certain if Citi will automatically issue their new cobranded card with the same limit as we had on the TE, with the same reported open date, etc.  Those who have received and accepted the targeted BCE offer seem to be getting the same limit as their TE.

As indicated in another recent thread and in the news. Citi isn't getting new cards out by the March end date so Costco and AmEx's arragement is extended through June, IIRC.

Don't worry so much over "relationship".  It's what your credit profile and income at time of consideration qualify for that really matter with any creditor.

Re: Amex Cobranded Dilema Costco and Jetblue

Welcome to the forum

I'd say your next move should be based on the usage of the cards.

How much do you use each?

Not sure what product Jetblue customers will be offered but Costco holders are being offered BCE and this may be a viable offer to you since you wish to keep the TL and relationship with Amex.

If you go this route you could applly to get the bonus and then move some of the limit over and still keep or Apply for another Amex product and keep Costco open to have for shopping.

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Amex Cobranded Dilema Costco and Jetblue

Thank you all for your input, so it his point in time I'm not sure if I should go ahead and take the HP and apply for a new amex, let it sit for the 60 days that I need in order to allocate some of my CL from my Costco TE (25K), does anyone know if Citibank will be adquiring the Portfolio from Amex?

Thanks in advance

Re: Amex Cobranded Dilema Costco and Jetblue

My usage last year for the Costco TE was about 22k, always PIF, the jetblue card was maybe 3k same always PIF.

Is the BCE offer via mail or should I call? so far I don't think I've received anything from amex....

Thanks in advance

Though no one is completely sure how everything will shake out yet, it seems like Citi is taking over the Costco card, and your card and its history will be transferred to Citi.  So if you want to keep that history, it will probably be that you'll want to keep that card open.  As for Amex, I have been receiving offers for the BCE by email and by an orange colored banner on the top of my account page when I log in.  It doesn't always show up though,

Re: Amex Cobranded Dilema Costco and Jetblue

Hey guys, as the dust is begining to settle with this Amex Costco & amex Jetblue, I'm still wondering how should i strategize in order to maybe increase my lines of credit, if thats even an option.

Yesterday I received my new barclay's card to replace my Amex Jetblue, the new card has the same line of credit as the old one, 9.8K, it does say not to activate it until the 21st of the month, and my Jetblue Amex is still active... with that said, would it be a good idea to call amex, and ask to move some of those 9.8k to my amex costco to then apply for a new amex and then move my 25k costco line of credit plus whatever I was able to move from the jetblue to the costco card?

I just would like to think that given the circumstances it should be an advantegious position to have a higher comboned credit limit....

ideas?  thanks in advace to all!

I think you're just going to have to apply for a new Amex card. With your FICO score it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty sure it's too late to make any changes in your JetBlue account, and personally I don't see why you should.

I think you're overthinking it, and should just apply for the Amex card of your choice. Then after you get it, see if it's not too late to move some of your Costco limit.
