Closing a recently opened card...

I'm still in the first month of opening a new First Premier card. They offered me a new card, with a soft pull, for a higher limit than my other First Premier card. Can I close this card without having to pay the fee they initially put on there? The card comes activated in the mail. I feel like i know the answer is yes but I'm not sure. I really don't need this card as I have better cards. Guess I was just credit hungry when I agreed to get it.

you can but you'd have to ask them to waive the fee

Re: Closing a recently opened card...

I just got off the phone with them and they went ahead and closed both of my accounts. Initially they tried giving me a $20 credit on the new account and the old one they tried to offer me a "free" credit limit increase of $200 bringing my limit to $500 but this card is over a year old and now has a monthly fee and I just paid the annual fee on it. The guy actually said they would be refunding my annual fee and sending me a check.

I actually feel really good about closing those two cards.
