Amex Delta Cards Offer, on the verge of applying!

Hey guys,

So we all know the promo offers on Amex Delta cards, and I'm on the verge of applying because of the 75k + $100 statement credit on Platinum Delta Card.

I dont fly offten but when I do I fly United, 2-3 times a year, only because of convenience i choose United, however I don't like United that much. And I hear good things about Delta.

The earning rate on Delta card is really bad, 1x everything, 2x on Delta (I guess all airline cards are like this). I have chase FU 1.5x everything and Platinum 5x on plane tickets. Basically I never will use this card(only for sub), not even on actual delta flights.

The only good thing the Platinum Delta can offer me is main domestic round trip companion ticket and 20% off in-flight purchases. the ticket does apeal to me an I certainly can use it once a year to offset the annual fee.

And if I like delta I will probably switch to delta, not that much more trouble to switch.

What do you guys think? Do you like Delta?

I love Delta! Unless you are going for Medallion status (MQD waiver up to Platinum Medallion with $25,000 annual spend as well as 10k SkyMiles and 10k MQM bonus at both $25k and $50k spend), there really is no reason to ever spend on the card for a lot of people once the SUB has been reached.

You also get your first checked bag free, as well as up to 8 people traveling with you on the same itinerary, and Zone 1 boarding unless flying in Comfort+ or First, which is earlier.

75k SkyMiles are worth at least $900, so it’s a terrific signup bonus.

Honestly, if the only good thing to you about this card is something that is not appealing to you then you should probably skip it.

Delta cards are more like perk cards than reward cards. If you aren't going to fly Delta or use the benefits of the cards then there really is no reason to have one.

Good point, thanks!

I prefer to fly Delta, over most all other airlines.
Good on time record, good customer service and plenty of options for flights. Only time I don't really use them is if I can find a Virgin Atlantic flight for cheaper when I head back across to the UK.
I would certainly use them over United.

Cards are good for free bags and early boarding, but, you need to commit to using the airline to get the most out of them.

I’m a delta person too.....not saying they are perfect, but imo, better than most. They have amazing promotions for SkyMiles trips. Just received a email promo RT Hawaii for 31K eco or 50K c which is amazing value. I just visited Hawaii in Feb, but if I hadn’t, I would def be signing up for this.

I say go for it 👍🏾

Thanks guys!

It seems Delta is awesome! And I will soon see it myself!

Just got the card! And booked my next trip for this year's thanksgiving for only $527 after statement credit. I usually take United for this annual thanksgiving trip and it always costs me over $800+ even if i book today! Saved quite a lot of money!

Re: Amex Delta Cards Offer, on the verge of applying!

I just downgraded from the $450 AF Delta Reserve to the $195 AF Delta Platinum...only because my Amex Platinum is an overlap in benefits of the Delta Reserve.  The downgrade allows me to keep the baggage fees at $0 since I travel alot and I used the yearly companion ticket as well.  The Sky Lounge access is now provided by the Platinum, and I get 5x the points (1:1) when booking flights on the Platinum card and it gives me access to the Delta Sky Lounge; that's why I downgraded.  To each his own, YMMV. Needless to say, I enjoy the card....

In addition to the Sky Club access (which yes, is redundant with Amex Platinum since it now has the same "must be flying Delta or a partner" requirement) the extra $255 also gives you the option of booking that companion ticket in First (which covers the entire AF in many cases) or Comfort+ instead of just Main Cabin.  The Reserve also has a much more generous Miles Boost (15k MQM and 15k SkyMiles for $30k and $60k spend, rather than 10k/10k at $25k and $50k) and gives Medallion members upgrade priority over other Medallion members at the same level and same fare code.
