I spoke to the rep at AMEX about converting my Delta Skymiles to either the Blue or Clear. We talked about 10 minutes on the pros and cons of each. He was very willing to convert to either I wanted. I chose the Blue (for better or worse), but it is definitely an option to go to the Clear.
I had only a $2,000 CL on the Skymiles for what it is worth.

Hey thanks for the response John. I've been comparing the the two cards to determine which is more beneficial. BTW, when you converted, did you have the same cl? I have a cl of 6400, but I'm waiting for the card.
Yes, I asked him if I could get a CL increase, and he said that I had to wait 30 days to apply for this. Not sure if this was a company policy or just his decision, but I will wait my 30 days and then give them a call.
Good luck!
BTW, I had to call 3 different times to AMEX. The first 2 people I spoke with were nice, but said I could not convert. Then I read on here to use the words "product change." Well, that worked like a charm!

Blue is harder to get than Clear. You need higher FICO if you apply directly. Hence most people who read this and other creditforums choose to convert to Blue from Delta Skymiles.
