Amex FR question.

My Amex Zync card recieved a FR and was subsequently closed in 2012. That was the only card I had with Amex at that time. So now I got my 2012 tax return ready, and I know that after I get approved with a new Amex card in the future, maybe in six months, the FR department will contact my and demand my tax return faxed to them.

My question is, do I have to wait the new card get approved and fax them? Or I can fax them now and lift the FR limit on my file, so maybe I can use the new card immediately I activate it in the future?  Since I don't have any Amex card now, so I technically don't have business to do with them, I'm not sure FR department will review my request or not.

Any idea? Thanks.

Re: Amex FR question.

Just a question but why didn't you send in the info on the zync FR instead waiting for it to get cancelled?

Re: Amex FR question.

You also know they will most likely want at least 2011 and 2012 and they will get it themselves, they just need you to sign to give them access!

You have to apply first AND get approved; sending them documents out of the blue results in nothing, since you have no current relationship with AMEX, anything you send them will likely end up in the round file.

Any idea? Thanks.

Hate to sound a bit harsh here, but seems like you're going under a lot of assumptions with AMEX, that you'll be able to re-establish a relationship.  How long did you have a Zync card?  Was it NPSL or PSL?  Need more details as to the "why" of the FR and the resultant action taken by AMEX.  And if you're assuming that they will automatically FR you again, what is this based on?

Because I was a new immigrant to US at that time so there's no way I can produce the previous year's tax return to them.

It's because "I spent more than I was supposed to", aka "abnormal spending patter," from $300 a month to $1.5K a month, Zync card is a NPSL card.. Like I said, I didn't have previous year's tax return and they demanded it, that's why the account had to be closed.

Now I have 2012's tax return, so I assume it should be no problem. The analyst there just need some file like this so they can lift the system-auto-generated limitation.

Based on your explanation, a phone call to AMEX, probably to a back door number, would be appropriate.  Explaining to them that you don't have tax returns prior to 2012 since you are new to the country, and asking them what steps to take to get an AMEX account, would seem logical.  It's doubtful that they will re-open the Zync since it's a discontinued product (though AMEX may surprise!) but certainly asking them if they can, or asking them to suggest which card to apply for, may result in your getting a new
AMEX card.

Re: Amex FR question.

When they asked for your FR did you explain the situation of being new to the country.   I thought I read here recently that Amex is one the only CC companies that will accept foreign proof of income.
