Re: Amex FYI for those with low SLs

Don’t be upset, Amex is a love/hate relationship, just keep using your card and pif eventually Amex will see you build history with them and your spending/payment trend and they will show LOVE, trust me. Just take it slow and don’t rush it.

Re: Amex FYI for those with low SLs

I got an Amex with a 1k starting line on a BCE no signup offers but enrolled in credit steps. I actually got a 3x cli after 91(96?) was denied at 61. I then got 500 for credit steps as promised at 6 months. I did not get approved for a cli next time I became eligible, still waiting try again. I also had some bad history with them maybe 15 yrs ago.

I got a Gold Delta card like 3 months ago and was denied the 3X CLI at 61. My SL was $1000 and still is. Does this mean I’m in the Credit Steps program? I’ve never had Amex before.

Re: Amex FYI for those with low SLs

Easiest way to figure out is look in your email that you put on your application. You would have gotten an email with a subject line find out how you can increase your credit limit. In the email it says "congratulations on your new card. Earn a higher credit limit." It isnt actually called credit steps thats what cap 1 calls it, amex has no official name but seems to offer with lower starting limits. Theres a good chance u are in it, main rule is use your card at least once each cycle and make a payment. Also u can try for CLI after your 91 day with card the denial at 61 didn't count since u were not officially eligible.

Re: Amex FYI for those with low SLs

His first card 500SL has been open since 12/17 to date no increase his scores have risen over 700 and low 4% until still zero increases. My card has been open since 3/18 scores rose above 700 4% until still zero increases.

I am keeping them open and our cell phone are billed and PIF every month. I will see when we got the 1 year mark and decide whether to keep them open.
