Amex Financial Review question

So my mother, against my advice, applied to have herself put as the main account holder on my parents Amex.

Short story is that my father developed dimentia several years ago, and has needed a lot of home care, pretty much devastating their finances. He is incapable of handling much, so my mother, who was unable to effect various changes on the account, had a Power of Attorney drawn up. My advice (and Amex's) was to just send that in on file to allow her to make decisions on the card and get info that otherwise only he could.

She decided to actually request herself be the main card holder, and I warned her it was likely they would do an FR for that, which wouldn't stand up to scrutiny as their finances had drastically changed since in the last 10 years (two incomes, *some* savings, etc.).

Has anyone else done this and if so were they hit with an FR?

Re: Amex Financial Review question

Not done this, and I've not yet read about anyone else who has. However, my guess is that you're right. It's going to bring about an FR. If the reps were advising her as you were, then I suspect they too knew it would bring about an FR. I know a guy who is an AMEX supervisor, and he told me a few "war stories". They are pretty well human.
