Re: Amex First statement ?

ok thank you.

So would it be best not to use this card until the statement cuts or should i use it and let it report a small balance report just only for the first statement???

Re: Amex First statement ?

I don't think Amex will worry at all if your reported UTIL remains low. You can certainly let a small amount of usage report your first month with the card; I don't see anything they could find wrong with that.

If you want to use the card a great deal and pay before the statement cuts 1 or 2 times, then I would only do that kind of usage after your first statement cuts.

Re: Amex First statement ?

Thank you. I also have another question.

Does amex like to see alot of usage and of course I'll be making 4x to 5x payments per month to pif those heavy usage. Would this be a good idea??? or i'm i trying to wake up the monster in the cave. LOL

Re: Amex First statement ?

They like usage, they like it when you PIF, they just don't like me.  Smiley Happy

I stopped letting AMEX keep me up at night (slight exaggeration).  Until my overall credit profile improves, I feel like I'm pretty much stuck.  So, I'm content to use my card, get my skymiles and they're content to keep me at 1k.

Your plan to use and PIF frequently sounds exactly right.  Good luck!

Re: Amex First statement ?

thank you. I reason i ask is because this is my first prime card and i want to use it like a prime customer. This card is also the only card in my collection i believes gives the best rewards even if i don't fly(you never know). So i want to stop pushing everything through this card and pif.

Re: Amex First statement ?

I emailed them just to make sure when I first got my card, and this was the answer I got:

Please be advised that our system only allows Cardmembers enrolled in Pay by Computer/Pay by Phone to pay more than their current balance due if it has been more than 30 days since their enrollment or last banking information change. Since you enrolled in Pay by Computer/Pay by Phone on 07/28/08, this feature will be available to you once the 30-day period has expired.

At that time, you will see a new option available when you log in to pay your bill online. This will allow you to pay your total outstanding balance including new charges accrued since the last statement.

Alternatively, you may send your payment to us at the address on your statement, or to our main remittance center listed below.

Hey which card do you have? Hopefully I am not being nosy...how long have you had it? When was the last time you requested a CLI?

Just curious. I am sure it is way past due for a CLI!
