Hi All!
I applied for the green card and got it! Yay.!
2 days later I recieved an offer for the PRG.
Ofcourse the CSR offered to PC the green to the gold or platinum BUT I will not qualify for the 50,000 points that was offered in the mailing. My only option is to apply for it. I really don't want the HP however as I have (1) Barclays pull from 5 months ago, (2) New car loan for 15K form 2 months ago (3) the original amex pull BUT I really want the extra points because I'd like to ultimately buy a Mac Pro with the awards.
Does has anyone ever been in this situation and negotiated getting the points as well as the PC?? Is there a clear difference between the two. After studying the 2 cards I found the only difference is the between the 2 points you incur with gas and groceries (I get that wit. Barclays anyway)
Also, is the hard hit really that bad?? I'm not concerned with a Barclays issue as they have just increased my cli $2000
Thanks for all your suggestions in advance.
The Green is 1 pt. per dollar spent while the PRG is 3 pts. for travel, 2 pts. for gas and groceries, and 1 pt. for everything else. Seems like simple math to me.

Other than being an charge card I think amex green seems pretty useless to me. The everyday performs same function with no AF.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't the PRG only be a SP being you are already on board with AMEX? I know it was only a SP when I applied and got my BCP being I already had the Costco AMEX.
Its usually sp for denial and HP for approval.don't know how you didn't get extra HP on your bcp approval.

Depends on one's credit. Generally speaking they're not as big of a deal for thicker credit profiles.

So you only want the Gold for the bonus points?

One could say "Green performs the same function with no impact to utilization". Another could say "Green doesn't have the Everyday's earn rate". It's about each finding the best fitting solution and one size doesn't fit all.
