Amex Green with little usage?

I'm thinking about applying for an American Express Green Charge Card in the next few months but I know I won't have that many charges per month, maybe $200 or so. Do you think Amex would frown upon that?

I would bet if I charge $200 a month consistently, the moment I need to charge more it will be a big deal.

Any thoughts?

they won't care because they are getting your annual fee.
probably not worth it with just 200 a month in charges.

They won't care. I just converted my Gold to a Delta card, as I never charged more than 150-200 per month tops. As long as they get their annual fee, and you pay on time and in full, all is well.Smiley Happy

I concur. I don't think Amex will care with low usage. It's still more merchant fees for them, and like the others pointed out, they get your $95 AF.

Re: Amex Green with little usage?

Have you considered a revolving card? I don't know what your scores are like, but the AmEx Blue is a great card with no AF and the AmEx TE is a great card with no annual fee as well if you have a Costco membership.

Re: Amex Green with little usage?

I'm trying to avoid revolving cards as I don't need CLD's or any of there craziness...I figure if it's a charge card I will never revolve and hopefully reduce the change of any of their craziness.

I bet they still go AA and such on revolving cards that people pay in full.

Re: Amex Green with little usage?

I've had my AmEx TE for almost a year and have been a member since 2007. I started with a $2,000 CL and got an increase in April to $3,000. I spend on average $1,000 each month with amounts varying from $300 to $3,000 and always PIF and just set-up automatic debit on my account to make sure I'd never miss a payment.

I love it! And if you treat them right, they'll treat you right. I'd recommend reading MV's post on AmEx.

I say go for it!

It's a positive trade line, and they shouldn't care since you are paying them off every month.

I've had my Gold since May, and I probably put 400-600 per month through it at the most. After the first statement you can PIF every other day if you want. So I charge a little and PIF a little every week or two.

So far, so good.
