Hey Guys,
I just have a couple of questions. I'm very interested in the Hilton HHonors for the sign up bonus and no AF. I take frequent weekend trips, not always by air so this particular travel card would be a great benefit to me. I use my Discover heavily to earn CB, but I could easily spend 2k a month on the Hilton HHonors for categories Discover isn't promoting. Problem though, I had a reported 90 day late on a school loan, which dropped my 670 ish scores down to 570ish. The late was an error and has since been corrected. However, my score only moved back to low 600s. I don't think there is anything I can do there since it was corrected, not sure why my score didn't jump back to around where it was before. I have maybe three inqs in the last year now, other than the 90 day late nothing on my report has changed. I keep 0 balances on everything.
1. First, is it even worth applying because my score dropped? I thought maybe I could still have a chance since Amex uses their own scoring system and I have a relationship with them already.
2. If I did apply, would it be a soft pull since I have an Amex Zync already? Or is that a same day type of thing?
3. If approved, Would I even get the sign up bonus since I have the Zync? Or does that only apply if I'm going after another charge card?
Details from App Page
Earn 40,000 Hilton HHonors Bonus Points
Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any other Consumer Hilton HHonors® Credit Card account within the last 90 days
I appreciate any advice!
1) It is still worth applying
2) Soft Pull if declined, hard pull if approved
3) You would still get the bonus because it is a different product type.
Do some google searching, you might be able to find a bonus offer over 40k.
Perhaps look at the AF card. Better bonus and rewards. As I recall, the AF is waived the first year, so if you want you can PC to the regular card after a year and avoid the AF.
There is a 50K offer for $750 spend. I'm sure it's in lots of places, but I think thepointsguy.com has it listed in his credit card deals.
Thanks I appreciate the replies and suggestions for more rewards. I think I will hold off if it's a HP upon approval. I'm really low in the 600s and I don't want to end up below that at the moment. Hopefully something will change for me next month ![]()
