I just got my first Amex card this month. It's the ED. But I just noticed that in my Amex app, it states that I've been a member since 2015. This is truly bizzare. I went back over my most recent reports with all the three bureaus and the only account I opened in '15 was a card with a local credit union. That account is closed and it was a visa. I did have some authorized user cards with my mom, but that was a long time ago and never an Amex. Besides, she'd been a member since at least the 90's. I have no rationale for why Amex is saying that I've been a member since '15 as opposed to '20. I'm guessing this isn't common? Or maybe I've missed something.
I'll reach out to Amex. I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything or not comprehending Amex. I'm feeling mildly perturbed and frustrated; I'm also a little amused.
Possible she did add you in 2015; AmEx stopped backdating AU's before that point so that would be the most logical explanation.
Most people historically on this forum would have considered this a bonus just sayin .
Its purely cosmetic but if Amex is saying member since 15, they have a record of you from 2015, not 1915 just to be clear

I guess this is possible but it means she would have added me as an AU without telling me and no account matching any Amex description is on a report of mine from any of the three CRAs. The AU cards I (knowingly) had with her were from many years before 2015.
I don't mind being designated an Amex member for longer than I have been and if that's what their records say, I'll take it gladly. I just find it a little strange as I can't easily explain it. Maybe I'll just chuck it to my mom in some kind of way. Yet another thing to thank her for.
i was pretty suprised myself when i got my first personal amex card.
it says member since 00 on my personal. i had an amex green card back then but i was young and irresponsible and burned them.
it went to collections and fell off my report.
i guess they still have me in their system since then.
my corporate amex has member since 15 on it.

I suspect that the name/spelling of your name on your corporate card isn't exactly the same as was on your personal card.
it shouldn't be since i applied for my personal card using my CAP amex account.
all the information is the same.

Pure speculation, but maybe she made you an AU and didn't follow up in 30 days with your social so AMEX closed the account without it reporting. But technically you had an AMEX account then.
