Amex No Intro Offer???

Hmmm, I was going to app for a Cash Magnet card. It wasn't in my Pre-Approved offers, I have pre-approved offers showing for Platinum, Gold & Green. But when I went through other cards and clicked Magnet it did say I was preapproved, and as I was logged into my Amex account all I needed to enter was Income & Assets. But when I clicked Apply I got a message to the effect of "Because of your previous history of Welcome Offers, Balance Transfers and Plan It offers you are not eligible for a Welcome Offer and Intro APRs". As the displayed offer of $150 bonus for $1k spend in 3 mos. + 15 month 0% was a major motivation for me to app I hit Cancel. I don't see where I can be seen as an "abuser".

- got the Blue Cash Everyday in April 2015, got the welcome bonus, $150 or $200. Took the offer in July 2019 of $250 bonus to upgrade to BCP. Took an offer in Aug. 2019 of a 0% Plan It for $1,040, I think 12 months, it's down to $694

- got an Everday card in Feb. 2018, frankly just for the 15 mo. 0% offer, and BT'd $2,860 from Discover to it and never went over a $4k balance on a $10k CL. Paid it off in July 2019 before 0% ended. Since then I've only tossed it my $10.60 monthly Netflix sub to keep it active. MR points don't work for me as I rarely travel, what MR points I've earned I've used at a steep discount on Amazon. If approved for Magnet I was going to close Everyday and move it's CL to Magnet or BCP, depending on the Magnet SL.

So, any Amex experts see where I might have gone wrong, or know how long it might take for me to get Welcome Offer & Intro 0% APRs back? From what I've seen of how many Amex cards some folks get & then close and get a new card it sure doesn't seem like I've been abusing things. And I don't know if I would have gotten Welcome offers on those Platinum, Gold & Green cards pre-approvals that often show up when I log in, I didn't want to hit Apply and maybe get hit with those AFs for cards I don't want.

Have you a received a welcome offer for that card in the past? If so, from what I recall it's only one welcome offer per lifetime.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

If you never had the magnet before even though you get the pop-up the might not offer the sign-up, but everytime I also got this about intro apr, they have always honored that portion, just not the bonus.  Have had 3 cards since amex cut me off from bonuses, but honored they intro apr.

Also make sure they don't consider the Magnet as the same card family as BCE (which you have had), don't think they are.  If they are that is your answer, otherwise if different as mentioned you would 99% chance get the intro apr of 0%

How much spend do you put on your Amex cards? I have had more SUBs, Upgrade offers, etc than you in a shorter amount of time. I put a lot of spend on my various Amex cards. I have read that they do not like it if you don't spend much beyond earning the SUBs or other bonuses.

Nope, only Welcome offers I've had is for BCE in 2015 and Everyday in 2018, the only 2 Amex cards I've ever app'd for. $250 bonus for upgrading BCE to Preferred in 2019, but that shouldn't be considered a Welcome offer, I got that for agreeing to start paying a $95 AF.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

I think it is because you got a SUB in July 2019 and then another SUB in Aug 2019

i would guess you will get a new SUB after July of this year.

Magnet & BCE might well be the same card family as they're both cashback cards, almost all other Amex cards are MR points. And I know they usually have once lifetime for a specific card, but it's been almost 5 years since I got the BCE if it's in the same family.

Guess maybe should call or use Chat and ask what's going on?

I was just approved for the Cash Magnet and got the SUB. Since Aug 18 I've had six SUBs. My total spend for 2019 was about $25,000, including $5,000 in balance transfers. My payments for the year were about $21,000. I've paid one annual fee of $550. I closed the Gold card after a year and will be closing the Platinum as well (switching to a Canadian Platinum)

As I've read here before, Amex likes lots of swipes and lots of payments.

I've put much more than the SUB requirement on both, and using BCP much more since the upgrade to 6x rewards on groceries & 3% gas. And while I put much more on the Everyday card than the SUB requirement I've barely used it since the 15 mo. 0% intro ended.  As I said, MR points really don't work for me. Magnet 1.5% cashback would work better for me than MR points.

Not quite right, the July 2019 was a $250 upgrade offer to upgrade BCE to Preferred, that shouldn't be consider a Welcome Offer SUB, that was for agreeing to start paying a $95 annual fee. And the Aug 2019 was just an offer to make a Plan It Plan with 0% interest.
