Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

Similar thing happened to me, I have 2 Amex cards, BCP (upgraded from BCE last June) and BBP (opened last July and am still carrying a balance due to 0%). Went to apply for a Hilton card back in January and got a pop up. Very similar wording but instead "plan it offers" it said "intro offers".

Personally I think it is due to taking advantage of a 0% offer, plan-it in your case and intro 0% in my case.

For the record I have never closed a Amex card.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

While I don't think you gave exact figures of your annual spend on BCE (maybe I missed it) you only spend ~$120 per year on ED. My guess is that Amex thinks you're not spending enough on the cards you have. They may think you are just wanting SUBs rather than looking for the right fit.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

I think it is because you got a SUB in July 2019 and then another SUB in Aug 2019

i would guess you will get a new SUB after July of this year.

Me: Two SUBs in March, two in November, one in February.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

Yea the welcome offer includes intro aprs to unfortunately. I'm on the blacklist as well it's annoying and I use my cards. I think once I pay my BBP off hopefully I'll be eligible again. I think that's what's holding me back. My balance been in the 2-3k range since like September last year due to a 0%. I'll pay it off when I get my tax refund then try for the Marriott biz in April or May.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

I also agree it's probably more to do with very low ED spend after the intro BT offer. I've opened five cards with them since 11/2018, still have all open. I don't spend as much as you - probably $18,000 since I got my first card - but I use all of them regularly and I was given the SUB for each card.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

Being in the same family should not matter; Welcome Offers are based on the individual card product.  I took advantage of 3 Delta Welcome Offers in a 13 month period after the "no Welcome Offer for you" popups began to appear for some cardholders.  It's certainly based on a suspicion on their part that you are only getting the card for the Welcome Offer based on your credit profile and/or history with American Express.

Amex likes high spend and it appears that they look unfavorably on closing cards for many people.  I'm currently working on my 5th Welcome Offer in just under 3 years and already got the first part of it (two-tiered Business Platinum offer for 50k for the first $10k and 35k for the second $10k within 3 months of card opening), but there's a lot of consistent spend to keep them happy.  I read through the thread and couldn't find it.  Approximately how much have you spent annually across all Amex cards the past few years outside of the SUB spend?

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

As a DP, I got my Cash Magnet in June and my BCP in September and I don't have the no SUB pop up. The Cash Magnet has my roommates as AU running around $100 a month since like October and has been used for AMEX offers. Total 2019 spend was $2K on the Cash Magnet and $1100 on the BCP but both cards get used regularly for actual spend and I think that likely makes a difference.

Re: Amex No Intro Offer???

Many thanks for the good suggestions & info. I called Amex this afternoon, always such good service from them. The rep reviewed my account and didn't see any reasons why I should be denied a Welcome Offer for Cash Magnet and asked if she could submit an app over the phone for me, saying if I was ineligble for a Welcome Offer she would get that alert and I could cancel. So I agreed. Instant approval, $7800 SL, with all Wecome Offers. Now $28,800 CLs with Amex between 3 cards, but I will cancel Everyday and hopefully move that CL to Magnet.

Maybe their computer just had a bad day yesterday. Smiley LOL

Thanks again and All the best to my fellow MyFicoers!
