Amex Oasis Program - Help

About two years ago, I paid an Amex charge off in full. At that time I was offered an Amex Optima card if I paid the card in full. I was going through a financial crisis at that time and to be honest, I didn't follow up on the offer. After reading on this forum about the great advantages of the Optima card (having your old derog removed and having the account history), I decided to call Amex to get my Optima card that was offered to me two years ago. I am trying to rebuild my credit and having that CL and card history would improve my score. Well, now they are giving me the runaround. I called the Amex numbers for Amex Oasis that are listed on this board and was referred to NCO (which is the collection agency that handled my account) and NCO referring me back to Amex. These are the numbers I have called so far. 800-829-2070 800-537-7326 800-700-7619 800-528-4800 What should I do? Should I just give up on getting into this program? I don't know if I have been blacklisted from Amex forever. I tried the pre-qualify link for the Amex cards, but I did not get approve for any Amex cards. Here are my current FICO scores (from MyFico.com): Exp 546 TU 532 EQ 592 Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think your scores a too low for any Amex card but I could be wrong. I'm sure someone who is familiar with Amex will chime in.

Re: Amex Oasis Program - Help

I joined the Oasis program a few months ago when I received the offer by mail. The number on the letter I received was: 877-889-5892

After making the full payment, the person I spoke with gave me a second number that she said was a "direct line". It was: 866-462-5235

I would give those two numbers a shot and cross your fingers and toes. But I get the impression that Oasis is a one shot deal to be jumped on if offered. Since you already paid them off two years ago, but didn't follow through with the steps to get the new acct, it's taken away their incentive to give it to you. I hope you're able to reach someone who can offer you a second crack at it. Good luck!

Re: Amex Oasis Program - Help

The two numbers I used when paying off my old Green charge card, and receiving the pre-approval documents for the "Oasis" Optima were:

800-879-4358
866-462-5235

I spoke to a rep named Patricia.

Re: Amex Oasis Program - Help

Thank you everyone for your reply and the additonal numbers. I tried both numbers, still no luck. One of the numbers, the Oasis direct line told me that my account was not in their office and was referred to another office. When I called the other number, they told me that the Oasis program does not exist. I'm done with Amex for now. I'm still working on upping my credit scores. When it's in the mid 600s I will try to apply for the Amex Delta.

Re: Amex Oasis Program - Help

I pulled out the paperwork that I had for the Oasis program, and it's all signed by "EDITED- Director of Collections".

Depending on how much time you have to spend on the issue, I'd recommend calling the 877-889-5892 number, tell them that you paid off an old debt with them and planned on taking advantage of their Optima offer, but never received the application they promised to send, and ask if they'd kindly mail it out again.

Please refrain from posting personal contact information -- thanks!
