Re: Amex Pay Over Time Option

Some historical information, regarding Sign & Travel ...

It's been around for a long time. It's the "grandaddy" of benefits on the AMEX charge cards, and has morphed into the current options offered by AMEX. It is, in fact, still offered.

When I got an AMEX Green card back in the mid-70s, one of the reasons I got it was for the Sign & Travel feature, that was unique at that time.    Back then, whenever one used that benefit, and also made charges that were NOT related to travel, there would be separate line items on one's (paper) statement; the charge balance which needed to be paid by the due date, and the S&T balance, which would give a total balance due and a monthly payment due.  Presumably, AMEX is still doing this with on-line statements.   Of course, as always, one could pay more than the minimum or pay it off completely.  It was a convenience for those of us who used that benefit for travel purposes.

I have the pay over time options available on my current card,  but haven't had to use them.  Good to have, though, should they be needed.

Re: Amex Pay Over Time Option

35k must be their standard limit. Its a moot point though as I would never carry with amex. Even on my 0% for 12 month BCE card I wont. I have read on here and on other forums that using the pay over time or carrying for any length of time or for larger amounts raises a red flag to amex and they start getting nervous and stripping the card. This is what mine says. I have had the ability since 2012. I opened this account in 09 as a green card and didnt upgrade to the platty until July of 2013, so they let me pay over time with the green card as well. Screen Shot 2016-07-31 at 12.22.57 AM.png

Do I have to have charges already posted to my account to enroll?

I wa auto-enrolled for both POT and EPO on my PRG, only thing is, it doesn't come into effect until 9-9, which is about a little over 2 months from me getting the card. Also, it's not available to me at all on my Platinum!
