Amex Purchase Assurance Program

Has anyone used the program? I have an item that I accidentally dropped that I just bought. The item is broken.  The confusing piece is the claims form asks for homeowners insurance info? I have an Amex Platinum and the item cost is $199. Does this mean I have to claim it on my homeowners policy?

Re: Amex Purchase Assurance Program

Most likely. Kind of how insurance companies ask for any supplemental plans you might have purchased..

e.g. Cellphone stolen/lost/broke requires a copy of cell phone bill in case you already have Mobile Insurance if you do claim is denied.

Yes, if you have homeowners coverage, you will be using that instead. The insurance only covers items that are not covered by any other insurance. Rackham gave a good example about cell phone coverage.

Re: Amex Purchase Assurance Program

It shouldn't be asking for insurance info unless it was stolen from the house. Try refiling the claim again
