Amex Question

So.... I was an Amex card member back in 1998 through 2005 and then the accounts were closed do by them because I was going through a divorce and they soft pulled and noticed our home was in foreclosure.. I had both their Premier Gold Card and their Platinum card.. I had never ever been late on any of them but they closed them anyway because they got nervous..

Anyway, fast forward to last week, I was approved for another Amex card and I wanted to know if anyone has had success with getting them to update my member since status back to 1998 and if so, how did you go about requesting it with them...  I would love to see member since 1998 on my card and account..

Thanks all.

They usually do it automatically. If it does not do it when you get the card I would call their executive office 800-297-6197 and talk to a CSR there about it.

Re: Amex Question

Congrats on the approval !

I agree odds are good that your new card will be automatically backdated.   Once you receive the card, setup your online account ~ the member since date that shows online will be what shows on your credit reports.

Thanks a lot.. I was afraid of that.. Even though I have not received the card yet, Amex allows for online account setup so when I set it up, the member since date showed 2/2013.. When I get my card I'll call them to see if they can "grandfather" me in..

Thanks for the advice..

If you have any of your old AMEX account numbers it should help with your request.

If its saying 2/13 online its likely to have the same date on the card. Like another poster said if you have the old account # give that to them.

Re: Amex Question

Executive relations is usually pretty helpful in situations like this. If they can't find the account, request an archive search.
