Amex Question

Okay so I have an Amex CC opened in January and they've been sending me a lot of emails to buy giftcards from them, and today I checked my offers and there is a bonus offer ($10 statement credit if I buy $400 worth of giftcards).

I'm considering buying a $1,000 GiftCard for a couple reasons.

1) They sent me a promo code with free shipping so total charge would be $1003.95.

2) I'd earn the $10 bonus

3) $10 CashBack additional because of 1% CashBack

4) Would help meet 5k spend requirement. After this purchase I would be at 3/5k spent but I have until July to spend the rest.


So I have a couple questions...

A) Will I still earn the 1% category on this purchase?

B) Is it okay to do this? They send me multiple emails, and even added an Offer to my Offers section.

Can I ask what card this is exactly? Anyway, to answer your questions: 1) it almost certainly should qualify since it's a purchase, and 2) they're obviously going to send you offers but you shouldn't feel obligated to take any of them. If you have a use for the gift cards you're getting then by all means go for it, as long as you believe it's a financially sound decision and you will pay off the purchase in full.

We fully intend to pay it off in full we have a 0% APR period ending in October so it'll be paid between now and then it just depends how things go.
