I learned that I was an AU back when I was 17 and was able to get rebackdated to 1999. Will bring my AAoA back over the 3 year mark tomorrow.

They don't now. But they did before 2011. So if you were au before then. You can get backdated.

Yep!
And apparently it works on some AMEX network cards too. The wife has a Dillards AMEX that she's had since 2007 that I was added as an AU to last year after I found out she'd been running it near her max limit.
On my report it shows up with a 2007 open date as well
congrats!!

Congrats OP.
On another note: Sorry to side-track conversation. You were just added last year to AU, but they backdated you to 2007. I thought it changed in 2011. I just added my spouse, but his card shows 2014

Dillards AMEX is currently Synchrony bank but is being gobbled up by Wells Fargo.
I can't explain why or how I was backdated, but It's there on my report and my card also says "Member since 2007"

Is the Dillards Amex an Amex card or is it just using the Amex network. AU's on cards that are just being run on the Amex network will follow normal AU rules. As in the AU account will inherit the entire account history of the account. The AU account will not establish your MSD.
For real Amex credit cards, adding an AU will establish your MSD, but they no longer get backdated to the original account opening.

It is not backed by AMEX Centurion bank. It uses the network.
I wasn't sure how It would work out on the history aspect.
I'm looking at my report right now, The whole history including open date and payment history were imported over.
My AXCB backed cards are all backdated to 2008 when I got my first AMEX.
Here's an update...
After the backdate on my Platinum changed from 2006 to 1999 my AAoA went from 2 to 3 years and my TU FICO went up by 10 points. The statement on my ED card should hit in a few days, I wonder if that will cause any additional impact.
The only other changes to my report were 2 additional queries, 4 new accounts reporting and balance changes (some up and some down).
