Re: Amex Recon

Why would you apply for the BCP if you already have the BCE? Why not just call them and upgrade your account?

Re: Amex Recon

All this started because they sent me a replacement card but with the EMV (chip & signature) and not the expresspay chip.  When I called they said there was absolutely no way of changing it back.  It annoyed the holy hell out of me because I never asked for it.  Anyway that, the fact I still have not had success getting a cli on the BCE, the signup bonus of the BCP, and my ex fico being higher now than almost a year ago when I was approved for the BCE (678 then, 690 now) all motivated me to app.  I can simply (I think I can anyway) close the BCE and move the cl from there to the freshly opened BCP.  Also I can earn cash back at a higher rate and use the 150 signup bonus to cancel out the annual fee for a year or two.

Re: Amex Recon

Why would it upset you to have the EMV chip? The magnetic strip on the back still works just fine and the EMV just gives you more felxibility if you travel

Re: Amex Recon

My annoyance was more with their making a mistake and not being able to do anything about it.  They screwed up, and instead of undoing it, their response was essentially oh well you gotta deal with it.  It isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things but yeah, that response annoyed me.  Also, I already have the EMV chip on my platinum card.  It makes sense to me on that particular card because there is no foreign transaction fee, not so with the BCE/BCP.

Re: Amex Recon

According to experian, my oldest account is over 12 years. AAoA is 3 years I believe. 3 inquires, one 3/2013 the other two 4/2013. One (accidental lol) 30 day late payment with capital one 10/2011. One other negative bit of info is a charged off account with applied bank with finally falls off this coming August. My credit limits are all in my siggy, not sure if maybe you didn't notice or something. Also an authorized user on my girlfriends amex BCP which has a credit line of around 18k. Also an authorized user on my girlfriends citi card, and that has a credit line of 30k. Also the citi card shows up on my report as opened in 2004, which is nice. Hopefully I didn't miss anything and answered everything for you haha.

Re: Amex Recon

I hope the app goes through.  For me, my app for the BCE was automatically cancelled by the system because I had a BCP.  After many, many, many calls and finally a very in depth call with one of the credit analyst she was told basically it's just "their rule" that you can't have BCP & BCE but you can have BCP & Blue Sky Preferred or BCE and Blue Sky/Blue.  Of course others on this board have gotten both the BCP & BCE but I believe they applied using a different computer/browser after clearing the cache so as to appear as a new app opposed to a current cardholder.

Good Luck. Hopefully it works out for you.
