Quick question about Amex backdating.
I just opened up my first BCP, but I've never had an amex card before. I'm pretty young so a charge card really isn't very appleaing right now. The question is, if I open a charge card down the road, will they backdate it to my BCP open date?
Another question is how does authorized accounts work with AMEX. If I jump on my fathers amex any chance i would get backdated to his join date xD?
Thxs
all amex issued cards will backdate to yourmember year, so yes to first question. As for 2nd question, the answer is no. Although a few have been able to BS their way to that but it is against AMEX policy.
+1
Thanks,
Do you think theres any reason to have a Amex charge if I'm not really going to use it?
I just opened the BCP 6k, & Cap One Green - 5k and have had a Citi Divident with 1.2k (credit limits)
Other than the BCP none of them have an AF.
Dont know my Credit Score yet, but Credit Karma pegs me at a 710.

IMO the major benefit of a charge card is the fact that balances aren't included in your FICO revolving utilization ( except for TU98 sold here ). So if you have major purchases coming up and you are trying to tweak your FICO score it might be helpful.
If you have BCE/BCP already, no need to get charge card unless you want it. Charge card advantages are in lots of threads but include MR points (positive or negative depending on who you ask), FICO util. considerations, ability to grow NPSL very quickly.
