How long did you have it before you requested the lower APR?

@nyancat wrote:P.S. to add to my suspicion AmEx wouldn't be okay with me deciding to use my cards as credit, not as charge cards, they sure gave me a strong disincentive - 19.24% on my new Delta Gold card (the worst of three possible rates), but a very decent credit line of $7,300. They seem to want me using the card, as long as I pay them in full every month.
I don't blame them, if they look at my report they know right well it'd be extremely out of character for me to even THINK about carrying a balance.
It seems like everyone gets the highest APR on delta cards.
FWIW, DH's APR is 15.24% on his Delta
My APR isn't the highest either, but that's just guilding the lily. lol
Just checked statements to make sure
Got the card in June 2013, requested lower APR in January 2014. FWIW I read a post on here one day that someone else had lowered their APR so I gave a shot too.

In the process of lowering my Delta right now. haha. Went down 3%. I hope that they can really lower the Blue Cash one.. for some reason it's a 20% rate. Sheesh.

No go on the BC. Dunno why, but that's ok. I don't carry a balance on any of these cards anyway. The interesting part is apparently when I PC'd to the BC I got one year of 0%.. ends next May.

Thanks! I'll let him know.

Well, you were able to PC, most weren't! But I don't think Amex will lower a rate if there a promo period, so that would explain why they won't change it.
THe normal rates for BC are relatively high:
After that [a 15 month 0APR], your APR will be a variable rate, currently 17.24, 20.24 or 22.24%
Sounds like you got the middle.
I guess I don't understand why anyone cares about APR on cards like these? Other than 0% offers, these are all TERRIBLE cards to actually borrow money on. I couldn't care less if the APR was 400%, I'd never dream of paying it either way.
I don't borrow money on cards, but if you feel you need to, get something like a Barclaycard Ring!

Just because you can afford to PIF every month doesn't mean everyone can. If that were the case, there would only be charge cards.
And everyone doesn't want to deal with Barclays!
