I bet they start FR-ing or cutting limits when you use it for Serve. Amex just seems like one big trap master. You don't get points on Amex issued cards anyway
Right, there's never been any reason to use any non-cobranded Amex cards to load Serve. Moving forward, the cobranded cards with have more value for those who utilize Serve, such as the Fid Amex, Wells Fargo Propel, and Flexperks Amex.
I'm definitely keeping my Propel beyond the first year then and this gives me one more reason to get Fidelity Amex too. It's just that I don't know if those transactions would be counted as cash advances or not.

just off that alone.
Aside from meeting a spend requirement, the ideal card with which to load Serve has always been the Fidelity Amex. For a couple of reasons, really. One, it's a 2% pure cashback card, which is greater or equal to any other card, except for the new Discover Miles. Two, the Fidelity Amex (though run by FIA), being closely associated with a brokerage account, is much less concern with charging cash-advance fees for pseudo cash purchases. For instance, I've read of many who claim to have opened up savings and brokerage accounts using the Fid Amex to fund them without ever any issues (and, have even earned the 2% most times).

But it's not like they're now charging a fee with the Amex cards while relegating you to them. Whether we use their network or another, they are eating the fees
? They own the Amex network.. If you use a Visa/MC, part of the swipe fee goes to that network, keeping it within Amex reduces the cost to them

Good point.
I'm almost certain Fid Amex will never count it as a cash advance. However, though Wells and US Bank haven't so far, they may certainly in the future. So, if anyone has a spend requirement to meet on the Flexperks and/or Propel, it's best to do it sooner than later.

He must've churned like $800K last month, so next we know, Serve gets nerfed :-P
Nah, too busy selling chemical weapon prescursers to ISIS last month to get round to loading serve. Slightly more profitable as well.

Right, but in this case by limiting us to the Amex network, Amex will earn the fees, rather than subsidizing the loss and allowing Visa/MC/Disc to earn the fees.

Ahh swipe fees. Got it.
Was talking about how they waived the fee you usually have to pay for using a CC.
We should be thankful they're at least allowing Amex CC network loads. Now, I really wish I had converted the Softbank thing for the $1,500 load limit, rather than be confined by the $1,000.
